Secretaries to get Tk2,500 for one-hour lecture
From now on, officials with ranks ranging from joint secretary to secretary will get double allowances for giving speeches or taking classes at government in-house training sessions.
The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a circular in this regard on May 22.
According to the circular, officials ranking from joint secretary to secretaries are going to get Tk2,500 per hour, more than double the previous ceiling of Tk1,200, for giving speeches at training programs in ministries, divisions, directorates, or any other offices.
Officials with the rank of deputy secretary and above will get Tk2,000, twice the existing Tk1,000.
The Finance Division also increased the allowances and honorariums for trainees and other people involved in the trainings.
Officials over the rank of grade 9 will get Tk600 from the existing Tk500, and officials below the rank of grade 10 will get Tk500 from the existing Tk400 for training programs.
Trainers will get Tk1,500 from existing Tk1,000 as honorarium, while course coordinators will get Tk1,200 from existing Tk800. Supporting staff (maximum three persons in each course) will get Tk500, in place of Tk300.
Although trainees are not allotted any allowance for lunch now, they will get Tk40 for snacks. Tk500 will be provided for lunch, if the training lasts for the whole day.
The new allowances, however, will not be applicable to internal trainings of ministries, divisions, directorates, sub-directorates, and offices. Also, any training arranged by the headquarters for field officers, or any training organized under a project will not be affected.
