Palestinian Ambassador Yousef SY Ramadan has said the people of his country continue to share a strong bond with the people of Bangladesh.

“We will always feel in-depth to our brothers and sisters of Bangladesh. That is a reality which can't be ignored,” he told Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.

He made the statement while discussing the show of solidarity by Bangladeshi-origin English footballer Hamza Choudhury by raising the Palestine flag along with his teammate Wesley Fofana at the Wembley Stadium in London after Leicester City won the FA Cup.

The 23-year old Hamza, whose mother Rafia is a Bangladeshi, draped the flag across his shoulders as he went up to collect his winner's medal before lifting the trophy.

At least 149 have been killed, including 41 children, in Gaza since the violence began on Monday, Reuters said quoting health officials.

As the violence escalated over the week, protests from across the world, including Bangladesh, poured in condemning the attack on Palestinians.

On Friday, a protest condemning the attack was held near the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.

Last Monday, Dhaka strongly condemned the attacks of terrorist nature and violence on innocent devotees and civilians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned the evictions of Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood and transfer of civilian population into occupied territories by the Israeli forces which exposes a severe violation of humanitarian norms, human rights, and international laws and accords and provoke the feelings of repressed people all over the world.

Bangladesh also urged the international community to take sustainable measures to end such attacks of terrorist nature, stop confiscation of private properties in occupied territories through the policy of apartheid, and the measures of terror which may be tantamount to war crimes in the occupied territories, the press release said.
