Bangladesh foreign minister meets with the new emir of Kuwait
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has raised with his Kuwaiti counterpart the issue of Bangladeshi expatriates’ concern regarding their return to the Gulf nation due to the suspension of flights between the two countries.
During a meeting with Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday, Dr Momen requested for the resumption of the flights at the earliest, according to the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs.
In response, the Kuwaiti foreign minister said the decision in this regard would be made after a meeting two days later.
Dr Momen is on a two-day visit to Kuwait as the special envoy to the prime minister.
Earlier on Monday, the foreign minister met with the new Kuwaiti emir, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, and conveyed the condolences of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the people and government of Bangladesh for the death of his predecessor.
At the meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Dr Momen also asked the rich Gulf nation to set up oil refinery in Bangladesh.
The Kuwaiti minister expressed interest in investing in this sector.
The foreign minister called for employing Bangladeshi workers in the agriculture sector.
He also asked Kuwait to import medical supplies and PPEs from Bangladesh.
The foreign minister of Kuwait praised the skills of Bangladeshi workers.
He also assured of his country's continued support with respect to the repatriation of the Rohingya people.
