Bangladesh has ample scope to send doctors as well as workers to Oman, a major source of remittance for the country.

This was asserted by Oman Ambassador to Bangladesh Ta’eeb Salim Abdullah Al Alawi, when he made a courtesy call to Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday, reports BSS.

During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed bilateral relations, the formation of a parliamentary relationship, and development in the fields of trade and commerce, education, power and agriculture of both the countries, an official statement said.

High officials of the Parliament Secretariat were present during the meeting.

The speaker said Oman was a close friend of Bangladesh and the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Oman would be strengthened in the future through establishing a parliamentary friendship group.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to solve any problem through discussion, she added.

The speaker also thanked Ambassador Al Alawi for assisting Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue and requested the envoy to expand its facilities for Bangladeshi expatriates living in Oman.

The ambassador said under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh had significantly developed in all areas, including education, health and agriculture.

He commended the prime minister for providing shelter to the Rohingyas and said the Oman government had provided 8,000 habitations for the Rohingyas, along with other facilities.
