Coronavirus outbreak: Chinese president appreciates PM Hasina's letter

Jinping expresses his appreciation in a letter sent to Sheikh Hasina on Monday

Chinese President Xi Jinping has appreciated the support of Bangladesh government towards the East Asian country as the country is fighting a battle against the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Jinping expressed his appreciation for Bangladesh's friendly sentiments in a letter sent to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.

His letter is a reply to Hasina's one in which she expressed deep condolences for the loss of lives following the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan city and other places in the People's Republic of China.

The prime minister's message was conveyed in her letter sent to the Chinese president on February 13.

In his letter, Jinping, also the general secretary of the central committee of Communist Party of China, said:"Your letter of sympathy and support has come at an unusual moment when China is waging a battle against the outbreak of the novel coronavirus."

"On behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Government and the Chinese people, I would like to express our appreciation for the friendly sentiments the government and people of Bangladesh cherish towards China as was adequately reflected in your letter," he said.

In the letter, the Chinese president also praised the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his "significant role in promoting China-Bangladesh relations."
