The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome, Italy has observed the National Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Abdus Sobhan Shikder paid homage to the Shaheeds (martyrs) by placing wreath on the Shaheed Minar on the embassy premises at one minute past midnight on Friday, a press release from the embassy said.
Also, expatriate Bangladeshis and different political and social organizations paid their respect at the Shaheed Minar.
Embassy staff and local Bangladeshi cultural artists sang “Amar Bahiyer Rogte Rangano Ekushey February” during a program to honour the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.
Speech of the president, prime minister and foreign minister were read out at the program, the press release mentioned.
The ambassador gave a speech at the time. He remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the language movement martyrs at the time and prayed for their departed soul.
