The BGB handed over the Indian girl to the BSF

An Indian teenage girl, who came to Bangladesh illegally one year ago reportedly to meet her boyfriend, has been returned to her country.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) handed the 16-year-old who hailed from Kolkata's Ultadanga over to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) through Benapole check-post on Monday, reports UNB.

ABM Muhit Hossain, an official with the NGO Justice and Care, said the girl entered Bangladesh illegally one year back to meet her boyfriend who lives in Khulna. Later, she was arrested by the police and sent to a safe home in Bagerhat through a court.

Apart from the BGB and BSF, police and NGO officials from both countries were present during the handover ceremony.
