Myanmar to work more closely with Bangladesh to address common challenges

Win Myint congratulates Sheikh Hasina on the landslide victory in the polls

Myanmar President Win Myint has expressed his interest in working more closely with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to address the common challenges of both countries.

"Notwithstanding the challenges facing our two countries, I believe that, through our joint efforts based on genuine goodwill and good neighbourliness, the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and Bangladesh can be nurtured strengthened," he said in a message.

The Myanmar president also congratulated Sheikh Hasina and her party, the Awami League, on the landslide victory ofthe 11th parliamentary elections held on December 30, 2018, reports the UNB.

President Win Myint extended his best wishes for the continued economic development, peace and prosperity of Bangladesh during Sheikh Hasina’s term, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Additionally, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her reappointment for a third consecutive term.

“It is my firm confidence that under your able leadership, the Bangladeshi people will acquire more achievements in the causes of national construction and development,” he said in a felicitation message.

He expressed interest in continuing to work closely with Prime Minister Hasina to further promote the friendly relationship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh, in the interests of its two peoples and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world over.
