Shringla is set to leave Dhaka on Monday
Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla has termed Bangladesh as one of the most successful countries of the world.
He specifically referred to the progress that Bangladesh made over the last 10 years, reports the UNB.
Shringla made the remarks while delivering a speech at his farewell reception in Dhaka on Sunday.
The high commissioner, who is set to leave Dhaka on Monday, said India, as a best friend and neighbour, wants to see a prosperous, stable and peaceful Bangladesh.
Shringla visited most districts of the country in the last three years.
"I've found the people of Bangladesh to be very generous, hardworking and helpful," he said.
Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Outgoing Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and business leaders, among others, attended the farewell reception hosted for Shringla.
