Japan has assured it would give its support to Bangladesh for the country’s development and prosperity.
Japan also said it intends to further develop the relationship between the two countries, reports the UNB.
In a statement on the 11th general election, Japanese Press Secretary Takeshi Osuga said Japan, as a longstanding friend of Bangladesh since its independence, hopes the country will continue on its path of democratic development.
Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they welcomed that the recent election was held with the participation of all major opposition parties, following efforts made by all concerned.
"On the other hand, Japan finds it regrettable that various matters of concern arose in the election process, such as the occurrence of many casualties," the statement read.
