A border conference between the director generals of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) will be held in New Delhi on Monday.
Issues of detention, killing of unarmed Bangladeshi nationals by BSF, as well as drugs, arms and ammunition trafficking from India will be prioritized in the meeting, according to a press release issued on Sunday.
The 14-member BGB delegation will be headed by its Director General (DG) Maj Gen Shafeenul Islam. Officials from the prime minister's office, Home Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ministry have also been included in the team.
On the other hand, a 20-member Indian delegation, led by BSF Director General Shri KK Sharma, will attend the conference.
Other issues such as increasing the coverage of "Crime Free Zone" and the protection of river banks in the border areas will also be discussed.
The BGB DG will also attend a courtesy meeting with the Indian home minister and the home secretary.
Additionally, a friendly basketball match between the two forces will be held on September 6.
The two representatives are also expected to sign a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD) of the conference on September 7.
The Bangladeshi delegation will return home on September 8 on completion of the conference.
