Bangladesh is seeking to reduce the menace of drug consumption in its soil. For that purpose, a list of 780 drug smugglers has been forwarded to the Indian government by Dhaka. A confirmed source in the India’s State Home department said this on condition of anonymity.

“The smugglers flog phensydyl and cannabis to Bangladesh by using Tripura as a conduit. Bangladesh government wants those smugglers to be repatriated,” added the sources.

The state government of Tripura has begun a crackdown on drug smugglers across the state since last month. One police officer was arrested and another was suspended for their alleged connection with drug trafficking rackets.

However, Tripura had no list comprising the exact number of drug traffickers.
