Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim is scheduled to visit Dhaka on December 19. During the visit, he will inspect the condition of Rohingya refugees living in Cox’s Bazar.
A Foreign Ministry official said that in earlier visits this year, Turkish first lady Emine Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu had toured the makeshift Rohingya camps.
During their visits, Emine and Mevlüt listened to the tale of woes from the displaced Rohingya, who described the horrific details of the recent army crackdown in Northern Rakhine state.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will discuss the Rohingya refugee crisis, and other important matters of bilateral and regional interests with her Turkish counterpart, added the official.
More than 600,000 Rohingya fled to Bangladesh after the Myanmar security forces launched a brutal offensive targeting the minority in the Rakhine state in late August. Bangladesh currently hosts about one million Rohingya.
