The Australian government has issued a travel alert advising its citizens to reconsider their plans to travel to Bangladesh due to a potential threat of terror attack.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia issued the alert
on its website on Friday, where it says there is "reliable information to suggest militants may be planning to target Western interests in Bangladesh".
"There is a high threat of terrorist attack in Bangladesh," the statement reads. "Stay alert and maintain an active awareness of your environment... Reconsider your need to travel to Bangladesh."
This is a Level 3 travel alert which is issued for a destination country where there are potentially life-threatening threats that make the country unsafe for tourism and unsuitable for most travellers.
