Border Haat day remains unchanged

Update : 22 Mar 2017, 12:30 AM
The day of the week which was fixed for the Border Haat of Kamalasagar would remain unchanged. The decision was made on Tuesday in a meeting of the joint managing committee of the Border Haat comprising Bangladeshi and Indian representatives of the market. The market day (Haat Baar) was reportedly supposed to be rescheduled on Tuesday instead of Sunday for three months as the Bangladeshi representatives of the Border Haat demanded the change. Manik Lal Das, additional district magistrate of Sipahijala district, said: “The market day of the Kamalasagar border will not be changed and Sunday would remain as the weekly market day. The decision was taken in a meeting of the joint managing committee of the Border Haat comprising representatives of both Bangladesh and India.” “We have also requested our Bangladeshi counterpart to sell Jamdani and Hilsa at the Border Haats. The Brahmanbaria Additional District Magistrate has promised to reflect on this matter with his country’s Commerce Ministry,” added Manik Lal Das. The meeting also decided that armed BGB and BSF will not enter the Haat.
