Of the 67 acres of land, only 4.48 acres belong to the Indian government and among the rest, about 61 plots have been identified as private property. Moreover, about 56 acres of land would be acquired in Bangladesh for the project.
The anonymous official added that land acquisition for the Agartala-Akhaura railway project has been already started by the West Tripura district administration.
India’s Central Government has earmarked Rs 97 crore for land acquisition to expedite the 15km Indo-Bangla railway project.
The 1,613km route between Agartala and Kolkata via Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri-Kishanganj (Bihar)-Malda would tone down to 514km once the new railway track is linked through Bangladesh.
