‘No ban on travelling to Bangladesh’
After a meeting with Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Thursday, Alison Blake told the media that the UK had advised its businesspeople to maintain caution when travelling and staying in Bangladesh after the July Dhaka terror attack. Terrorists killed 20 people, mostly foreigners, at an upmarket Dhaka restaurant on July 1. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Tuesday issued a travel advisory, saying there was “heightened threat of further terrorist attacks” and that foreigners may be directly targeted. Asked about the ban on cargo flights from Bangladesh to UK, Blake said it could be lifted if more security measures were adopted.
