At the ceremony, the Ritu Journalist fellows were awarded for their achievements and were honoured for their dedication and hard work.

Chief guest, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, said: “Currently, there are some misleading things circulating the media, but there are also good things and achievements that the people need to know about. We need to instill hope within them through good news.”

Special guest, Director General of the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) Quazi AKM Mohiul Islam, said: “Journalists play a very important role in bringing positive changes in society. Through responsible journalism, we need to highlight and spread the good achievements we are making, such as the ones by the Ritu project.”

The Ritu project started in Bangladesh in 2016 with the aim to improve health, well-being, and social and economic participation of girls. The project is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
