Light to moderate rain has been forecast in parts of Bangladesh for the upcoming 24 hours.
A low pressure area has formed over North Bay and adjoining area, the met office said, adding that a monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
The met office, in its 24-hour forecast starting 9am Friday, said light-to-moderate rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning, are likely to occur in divisions including: Rangpur, Mymensing, Sylhet, Barisal, and Chittagong.
Parts of the Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Khulna divisions may be hit by moderately-heavy to heavy rainfalls during this period.

The met office said the rain or thunder showers are likely to increase in the next 72 hours.
Dhaka residents, on Thursday, experienced the hottest day of the year with the highest temperature recorded at 37.6°C, after the temperature rose by 3°C in 24 hours.
The met office said a mild-to-moderate heat wave is sweeping over: Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, and Barisal divisions—and the regions of Comilla, Noakhali, Sandwip, and Sitakunda.
It said the heat wave may abate.
The day temperature may fall by 1-3°C, and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
