For the first time, an emu egg has hatched at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
In 2013, three emus were brought to the safari park from South Africa. Recently, a female emu from among them laid five eggs, from which the baby emu hatched on Wednesday morning.
The park authorities are expecting that three more emus will hatch, with one egg having been spoiled.
The emu is the world’s second largest bird. It is the national bird of Australia, and is mostly found in the western parts of the country.
