The Election Commission has decided to hold the by-polls to Bogra 1 and Jessore 6 constituencies on July 14.
The commission took the decision in an emergency meeting and issued a circular signed by EC Senior Secretary Md Alamgir on Saturday.
On March 21, the commission had to postpone the by-polls to the constituencies due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The polls had been scheduled for March 29.
Sources at the Election Commission said the decision to hold the polls was taken as there is a constitutional obligation to hold the polls within 180 days of the seats becoming vacant.
As per the constitution, the Bogra 1 by-polls must be held by July 15, while voting in Jessore 6 by-polls must be concluded by July 18.
