EVM to be used for Chittagong city polls, and traditional ballot papers for two other by-elections

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) elections to be held on March 29, and the Bogra 1 and Jessore 6 constituencies' by-elections. 

Election Commission Senior Secretary Md Alamgir announced the schedule after a meeting at the Nirbachan Commission Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday. 

According to the announced schedule, voting will be held in Chittagong City on March 29 and the nomination papers need to be submitted by February 27.

The nominations will be scrutinized on March 1 and the candidates can withdraw their nomination till March 8. 

Md Alamgir said the commission will allocate symbols to candidates on March 9 and candidates will be able to appeal from March 2 to March 4. 

The senior secretary of the commission also announced the   by-elections schedule for Bogra 1 and Jessore 6 constituencies at a press conference.   

Alamgir said the Chittagong City Corporation election voting will be conducted on electronic voting machines (EVMs) from 9am to 5pm on March 29. 

On the same day, voters can vote using   ballot papers in the by-elections of Bogra 1 and Jessore 6 constituencies, he added.
