He alleged presiding officers at some polling stations shared the secret pin code for EVMs

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has termed the mayoral election “nothing but a farce.”

He said this while briefing the press at BNP Naya Paltan office on Saturday.

He also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina violated the rules by asking voters to vote for "boat" which she cannot do as prime minister

“Her words might have incited Awami League supporters to get involved in violating the rules at polling stations,” he said.

He said a number of voters could not cast their votes after they verified their information on electronic voting machines (EVM).

He said somebody else voted for them after they verified their information.

He further alleged that presiding officers at some polling stations revealed the secret pin code of the machine to other officers at the polling station, which is a violation of the rules.

He said the technical support teams at polling stations took advantage of the EVM machines to cast fake votes.

A team comprised of BNP’s Standing Committee members has visited the Election Commission with a list of polling stations where EVMs could not read the fingerprints of some voters.

He also said the “sheaf of paddy” symbol was absent on a few machines.
