The voting ran across a total of 1318 polling centres of DNCC

Based on the unofficial results of 1,318 polling centres, Awami League's candidate Atiqul Islam has won the mayoral race for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

With all centers reporting, Dhaka Tribune can now project Atiqul as the winner of the DNCC mayoral race and the new mayor of Dhaka North.

He led his main rival -- BNP's mayor candidate Tabith Awal -- by over 183,050 votes, a virtually insurmountable lead given that Tabith is averaging roughly 20O votes per center.

The presence of voters gradually increasing in comparison to the early stage of the poll, the upward trend in voters’ turnout was not as satisfactory as expected.

As many as 3,010,273 people were expected exercise their right of franchise at the DNCC election.

Seven aspirants in Dhaka north had vied for the posts of mayor.
