Voter information now available via SMS

The service was opened on Sunday

The voters will be informed about their respective polling centres and serial numbers through short message service (SMS) during the upcoming mayoral election.

Election Commission Secretariat Director Israil Hossain said this on Monday, reports BSS.

He said voters can now get their polling centre, serial number and voter number by sending their national identification (ID) number through SMS to 105 from any mobile phone operator.

The service was opened on Sunday.

Smart card holders will have to type PC (space) smart card number and send it to 105.

While, NID card users will have to type PC (space) year of birth and 13 digits NID number (without any space) and send it to the same number.

A reply SMS will inform the details about the voter.

In the upcoming elections, the number of polling stations in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will be 1,318 for 30,090,00 voters.

Also, there will be 1,150 polling stations for 24, 520, 00 voters in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
