The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the by-election in Rangpur 3 constituency will be held on October 5.
The commission's Additional Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman announced the polls schedule on Sunday.
Rangpur 3 constituency fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party former chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
Mokhlesur Rahman said aspirants can submit their nomination papers till September 9, while scrutiny of the nomination forms will take place on September 11.
The last date for withdrawing nomination papers is September 16, he said.
He said that Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) would be used at every centre during the by-polls and, prior to that, the EC would arrange mock voting.

Article 123 (4) of the constitution stipulates an election to fill the seat of a member of parliament, which falls vacant otherwise than by reason of the dissolution of parliament, shall be held within 90 days of the occurrence of the vacancy.
