The Election Commission declared the polls schedule on Thursday

The by-polls to one woman reserved parliamentary seat in the 11th parliament, which fell vacant after the death of lawmaker Rushema Begum, will be held on August 18.

The Election Commission (EC) declared the polls schedule on Thursday, EC Joint Secretary SM Asaduzzaman said.

He also said the EC fixed the last date of submission of nomination papers on July 25, the scrutiny on July 28 and the withdrawal on August 1.

“The polling will be held on August 18,” he added.

EC Joint Secretary Md Abdul Baten will be the returning officer of the by-polls, he added.

Earlier on July 10, the reserved women seat fell vacant after Awami League-nominated Rushema Begum died following a cardiac arrest at Faridpur Heart Foundation Hospital.
