Kabita Khanam: EVM won voter confidence

'The Election Commission is totally committed to preparing a transparent voter list'

Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam has stated that electronic voting machines (EVM) have earned the confidence of voters by ensuring a hundred percent transparent election, as there is no scope for vote rigging using the system.

She made the statement while talking to journalists during a visit to Barobari Government Primary School in the city to observe updating of the local voter list with photographs.

The election commissioner said that the Election Commission is working sincerely for preparing a transparent and accurate electoral roll with birth registrations all over the country.

“The Election Commission is totally committed to preparing a transparent voter list,” she said, adding that there has been a very positive response among people all over the country.

Rangpur Regional Election Officer GM Shahatab Uddin, District Election Officer Delwar Hossain, Sadar Upazila Election Officer Kamrul Islam, local Ward Councilor Shafiqul Islam Mithu, and Barobari Government Primary School Headmaster Sayeed Hossain were also present.

Later, Kabita planted a sampling of ‘bakul’ flower on the school grounds.
