Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said Electronic Voting Machines (EMVs) will be used in all future elections in Bangladesh.
"A legal framework has been prepared in this regard," he said while addressing a law and order meeting regarding Bogra-6 by-polls on Wednesday, reports UNB.
At the meeting, the CEC said EVMs will be used as much as possible in the local government elections too.
Bye-election to Bogra-6 constituency is scheduled for June 24. The seat remained vacant as BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir chose not to take oath of office.
Replying to a question, he said army deployment will not be necessary as a peaceful atmosphere prevails in the electoral area.
"But army personnel will be present at polling booths as technical support for the EVMs. They won't discharge election duties but will take care if there is any problem with the EVMs."
