Elected Independent panels of three female dormitories expressed solidarity with the students of Ruqayyah Hall who were on strike from Tuesday night till 9am Wednesday.

The three elected panels made the press conference announcement at the Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) on Wednesday evening.
Afsana Safa, elected General Secretary of Shamsunnahar Hall union read out a written statement which said: "We are very concerned that the authorities did not pay any heed to the protesters' logical demands the whole night.”
GS Afsana also criticised the authorities’ inertia in this regard ,saying: "The authorities lock our hall gate by 9:30pm considering our security, but this time the girls were outside the entire night and none of the proctorial team or the provost even came to meet them.”
A case was filed by Chhatra League activist Marjuka Raina, a student of the dance department, with Shahbagh Police Station on Monday night. Accusing them of humiliating hall provost Dr Zeenat Huda, her case was filed against newly elected Vice-President(VP) Nurul Haque Nur, Bangladesh Chhatra Union General Secretary Litan Nandi, Khan Anisur Rahman Khandaker, Chhatra Dal's GS candidate for Ducsu and joint Convener of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall unit, Umme Habiba Benojir, president of Chhatra Federation, and Sheikh Moushumi, independent VP candidate of hall union, as well as 40 other unnamed students.
Students of Ruqayyah Hall on Tuesday night at 10:30 pm staged protests inside the hall, demanding the resignation of hall provost Dr Zeenat Huda , withdrawal of all cases filed against students, and fresh elections. They left at 9:30am on Wednesday after protesting for almost 11 hours .
Tasnim Halim Mim, elected VP of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Emi, elected VP of Shamsunnahar Hall, Tanjina Akhter Suma and Monira Sharmin, elected VP and GS of Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall respectively, were present at the press conference.
