The Left Democratic Front (LDF) held a rally on Wednesday demanding a new election in Barisal.

Participants held black flags, chanting “We want fresh elections under a neutral supervisory government,” in front of the Ashwini Kumar Hall.

The rally was presided over by the LDF and BSD District Coordinator Dr Manisha Chakraborty along with AK Azad, Jalilur Rahman, Saidur Rahman, Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu, Nripendranath Baroi, Santo Mitra, leaders of the LDF and left leaning  organizations.

Speakers at the rally alleged the 11th general election was marred by mass vote rigging, voter intimidation and refused to accept the result, calling it “the kidnapping of fundamental rights of the people.”

They also held a procession from the LDF office and moved through the streets chanting slogans rejecting the election results.
