An Awami League polling agent has been killed in the Narsingdi 3 constituency.
The incident occurred near the Kundarpara polling centre in Shibpur upazila around 12pm on Sunday, during the 11th general elections.
The matter was confirmed by Shibpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad.
The victim is Md Milon Miya, 45.
OC Abul Kalam said: “Police heard about violence near the Kundarpara voting centre, and upon arriving at the location, found Milon’s body.
“We do not yet know who the perpetrators are, but we are investigating the matter. Milon was the polling agent for Narsingdi 3 Awami League candidate Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan,” the officer added.
The chief rival for Zahirul is Awami League candidate, Awami Jubo League presidium member, and current MP Sirajul Islam Mollah.
