The deceased was shot in his back
A teen Awami League activist has been killed in election violence in Brahmanbaria Sadar 3 constituency.
Two others – one BNP and one Awami League activist – were also severely injured during the clash.
The incident took place at the Rajghar Government Primary School polling centre of Brahmanbaria Sadar 3 constituency on Sunday.
Voting in this polling centre has been suspended due to the clash.
The deceased was identified as Israil Mia, 18, an Awami League activist.
The severely injured have been identified as, Awami League activist Rasel Mia, 25, and BNP activist Javed Islam, 17.
Dr Md Shawqat Hossain of Brahmanbaria General Hospital said: "Three severely-injured people were brought to our hospital. Among them, a young man named Israil Mia, was received with a bullet wound to his back. He died before he was brought to the hospital.
“Two others were also brought here with bullet wounds on multiple parts of their bodies. They have been sent to Dhaka for better treatment,” he added.
Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer of the same area Jannatul Ferdous said: "Voting has been suspended in that particular polling centre. Police, BGB, and Army's striking forces were deployed to the site to take control of the situation."
