“The nation is optimistic about a free, fair and inclusive election, which must be held in a trustworthy manner. All personnel concerned must be sincere in discharging their duties. I am calling on voters to cast their ballots in favour of their supported candidates without any fear or temptation,” he said.
Mahbub added that the people’s vote is the very action that safeguards the nation’s democracy.
When asked about the polls atmosphere, the election commissioner said: “I am not the only person accountable for this issue, so I should not make any comments about it. However, reporters and the people should be the judge of the election atmosphere.”
