There are a total of 632 centres in the district’s five seats
As many as 380 voting centres out of 632 have been designated “important” in five constituencies of Narsingdi, according to authorities concerned.
Authorities have said these risky or important centres will be under additional surveillance during voting in the 11th general election on Sunday.
Sources at the district election office and the police’s Special Branch said that of the 380 “important”centres, 75 are under Sadar model police station, 47 under Madhabdi police station, 38 under Palash police station, 40 under Shibpur model police station, 74 under Monohardi police station, 29 under Belabo police station and 77 under Raipura police station.
Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police Md Shafiur Rahman said: “Additional security forces will be in place at these 380 centres classified as important for their geographical positions.”
He said one mobile court was already on duty in every union, including the areas where these voting centres are situated, alongside police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and other law enforcement agencies.
In order to ensure fair and safe elections on Sunday, 1,572 policemen, 353 BGB personnel, 88 RAB officers, and 450 army personnel will be on duty in the five Narsingdi constituencies from 8am to 4pm.
