Election material including translucent ballot boxes and ballot papers, and election officials have been airlifted to the Bandarban, Khagrachhari remote polling centres.
Helicopters were used in 13 polling centres of Bandarban and two in Khagrachhari on Friday.
Bandarban District Election Official Md Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter.
He said: “The 13 voting centres are in remotes places and it is quite difficult to go to these centres by other means of transport.
Helicopters were sent to these remote centres on Friday morning from the Bandarban cantonment.
According to the district election office, there are 176 voting centres with 128,130 male and 118,754 female voters. There are four candidates contesting the election from the region.
In Khagrachhari, a Bangladesh Army helicopter was used to send the election material and officials, including presiding officers and assistant presiding officers, to the Shuknachhari Govt Primary School and the Kutyachhari Govt Primary School centres, reports UNB.
This saw that polls items and election officials were airlifted to a total of three remote and inaccessible polling centres in the district.
Earlier on Thursday, a helicopter was used to send the officials and election material to Naraichhari in the Dighinala upazila.
