The office belonged to Sunamganj 1 AL candidate Moazzem Hossain Ratan

An Awami League election campaign office has been burnt by miscreants in Sunamganj, Sylhet.

The office was sent ablaze in the early hours of Monday, at the Jamalganj upazila’s Ujanlalpur village of the Sadar union, claimed Awami League leaders of the upazila.

The office belonged to Sunamganj 1 constituency Awami League candidate Moazzem Hossain Ratan.

The amount of damage is worth Tk20, 000 according to the local leaders of the party.

Upazila Awami League President Mohammad Ali said: “The BNP-Jamaat clan did this damage to the Awami League election campaign office.

“We want the culprits to be brought to justice.”

Jamalganj police station OC Abul Hashem said: “We are taking the matter seriously. We will take the necessary action against the ones responsible for this attack, after our investigation is done.”
