Saki is contesting the11th general election, slated for December 30, from Dhaka 12 constituency as a candidate of the Biplobi Workers Party with the ‘spade’ symbol.
Flanked by party leaders, activists and supporters, Saki started electioneering from Mohakhali’s Raowa Club around 4pm on Sunday and continued the campaign into Shahinbagh and Nakhalpara areas.
While seeking vote for ‘spade’, Saki said: “If elected, education will be our priority. The whole education system will be reshuffled with the allocation of 6% of GDP in the sector."
He pledged to build up a modern and quality education system in the country.
Putting emphasis on the prevention of uncontrolled corruption in the country, Saki said the reason corruption is out of control is because people are afraid to call it out or protest. They are afraid of enforced disappearance, extra-judicial killings, and harassment through filing of cases by the oppressive government, he added.
He urged the people to cast their votes for ‘spade’ so that he can help build a Bangladesh that is free of fear, and eradicate ccorruption at theroots.
Saki also alleged that a minimum level of congenial election environment has been created in country. “Like other opposition parties’ leaders and activists, our party men are also being violently attacked and threatened regularly,“ he added.
