Awami League-led grand alliance candidates from Rajshahi have promised to present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with six seats in the upcoming general election.
The candidates made the promise at an election rally at Rajshahi’s historic Madrasa Field, on a video conference with the prime minister on Thursday.
During the conference, Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude to the people of Rajshahi for electing an Awami League candidate as their mayor.
Talking about BNP-Jamaat’s misrule from 2001-2006, the Awami League president said: “They harboured militancy and terrorism and created ‘Bangla Bhai’ at that time.”
She said the BNP-Jamaat terrorists had killed a huge number of Awami League leaders and activists by unleashing terrorism when they were in power.
The prime minister said her government has fulfilled all its election pledges for the last two terms, and that her party never forgets its election manifesto.
She said she is confident the Awami League will come to power again with the votes of the common people in the month of victory.
The candidates and leaders of Rajshahi praised the prime minister during the conference. They said they have nothing to ask for from the prime minister, as she always provides for them before they ask.
They also promised Sheikh Hasina a gift of six seats from the region in the 11th general election slated for December 30.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi 1 candidate Omor Faruk Chowdhury, Rajshahi 2 grand alliance candidate Fazle Hossain Badshah, Awami League Rajshahi 3 candidate Ayen Uddin, Engr Enamul Haque from Rajshahi 4, Dr. Mansur Rahman from Rajshahi 5, and Rajshahi 6 Awami League candidate Shahriar Alam, and others, spoke at the program.
