He also urged election officials to take the advice of political parties and activists into account
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has said the trust and enthusiasm people have in the 11th general election must not be shaken by mistakes committed by election officials.
He stated this while addressing a training program for Election Management Systems (EMS), Candidate Information Management (CIM), and the Result Management System (RMS) at the Election Training Institute building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Wednesday morning.
Nurul Huda also said: “Election officials should pay heed to the advice of political parties and candidates.”
The CEC furthered: “You must make sure that the right results are announced, so that the right person receives the responsibility of the country.
"You have to undergo this training diligently and perform your duties properly," Nurul Huda stated.
“If executive magistrates make mistakes, it can be taken care of, but if you make even small mistakes, there can be all-out anarchy,” he added.
The CEC also said technical personnel have a very important role in the electoral process because even small errors may cause the software used to count votes to display completely different results.
“The nation is abuzz with election fever, and there is a celebratory feeling in the air. Let us reward the enthusiasm of the people by doing our best to avoid mistakes,” Nurul Huda said.
Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed, ETI Director General Mustafa Faruq, as well as ETI directors Farhad Hossain and Belayet Hossain, were also present at the event.
