Election Commission allocates Tk272cr budget for law enforcement agencies

The commission officials also hinted that its expenditure during the election may exceed its budget of Tk700 crore.

The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday fixed a budget of Tk271.83 crore for law enforcement agencies, which will be deployed to maintain law and order during the next general polls.
 
Of the amount, Tk63,22,84,250 have been allocated for police, Tk10,20,28,850 for Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Tk1,56,00,000 for Coast Guard, Tk33,02,43,884 for Border Guard Bangladesh, Tk163,81,75,600 for Ansar and VDP.

Village Defence Party, or VDP, members will be deployed in general election duty for the first time. About 45,000 VDP members will get Tk1,000 each for their two-day duty.

Bangladesh will go to polls on December 30.
