Bangladesh has involved UN agencies in the Rohingya repatriation process

Ruling Awami League, in its election manifesto, has promised to ensure a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, unveiled the party’s 21-Point Special Pledge Manifesto at a hotel, in Dhaka, on Tuesday.

Bangladesh’s government is trying to reach a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis by carrying out constructive dialogue with many friendly countries, international organizations, and the United Nations, she said.

Hasina said despite a severe financial crisis and other limitations, the government provided shelter to hundreds of thousands of Rohigyas who fled their homeland to escape genocide and ethnic cleansing.

In September 2017, the prime minister placed a 5-point proposal before the UN general assembly to solve the Rohingya crisis.

Considering the need for the international community’s assistance, Bangladesh has involved UN agencies in the Rohingya repatriation process.

The 11th parliamentary election will be held on December 30.
