A total 1,016 platoons of BGB were deployed on Tuesday
Platoons from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country, including in Dhaka, ahead of the 11th parliamentary election.
A total 1,016 platoons from BGB were deployed on Tuesday.
BGB Public Relation Officer Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “I cannot say exactly how many BGB officials are in the 1,016 platoons, however, each platoon of the border force can have between 10 to 30 members.”
Among them, 50 platoons will be performing their duties in the capital, Mohsin Reza said.
“The BGB officials will be on stand-by at the election areas right now. They will commence their duties as per the instructions of the commission,” he added.
Members of the armed forces, BGB, Coast Guard, and Ansar will be deployed as mobile or strike forces. Each of the teams will cooperate with the executive magistrate of the constituency concerned.
Election Commission sources said that police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and the Armed Police Battalion will be deployed from December 26 to January 1, 2019.
Earlier on December 13, the Election Commission said the army will be deployed across the country from December 24.
The commission added that they would stay in the field until January 2.
