Oikya Front pledges significant drop in medicine, diagnosis costs

The manifesto said 200 nominated specialists from divisional district hospitals will also be trained

Jatiya Oikya Front, in its 14-point election manifesto, has mentioned that the cost of medicines and diagnostic examinations will be dropped significantly.

They said if voted to power, they will decrease the cost within three months.

Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna read out the manifesto at an event that began at Hotel Purbani International, in Dhaka, around 11am on Monday.

The abovementioned pledge is a part of a manifesto that also mentioned a two-year training program for 200 nominated specialists from divisional district hospitals. 

The training of these specialists will take place in various government hospitals throughout Dhaka, to further boost their skill as medical experts.

The manifesto also mentions various other pledges to improve the healthcare sector, such as upgrading the existing 31-bed upazila health complexes to 50-bed facilities, building medical colleges along with 500-bed hospitals, 20-bed CCUs, 20-bed ICUs and ten-bed NICUs in every district.

One 20-bed kidney dialysis centres and a chemotherapy centres will be built in pre-selected 21 districts on a priority basis. These healthcare centres will gradually be built in every district across the country. 

Alliance chief Dr Kamal Hossain and senior leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Zafrullah Chowdhury and Kader Siddique among others are present in the program.

The election is scheduled to be held on December 30.
