Awami League asks EC to allocate ‘boat’ to 14

Awami League submitted a letter to the Election Commission confirming its nominated candidates, and requested the commission to allocate its party symbol ‘boat’ on Sunday

Bangladesh Awami League and its allies have announced 272 candidates to contest in the upcoming 11th National Election, setting aside 26 seats for Jatiya Party.  

On Sunday,  Awami League submitted a letter to the Election Commission confirming its nominated candidates, and requested the commission to allocate its party symbol ‘boat.’

Among the allies of Awami League, the boat symbol was given in the following ways - five for Bangladesh Workers Party, three for Jatiya Somajtantrik Dal (JaSaD), two for Bangladesh Tarikat Federation, one for Bangladesh JaSaD, three for Bikalpadhara Bangladesh.

On the other hand, Awami League’s allies Jatiya Party (JP) Anwar Hossain Monju who is contesting from Pirojpur 2, and Ruhul Amin for Kurigram 4, have been requested to allocate their own party symbol ‘bicycle.’

On the other hand, Jatiya Party has announced 29 candidates who will be contesting under the party symbol ‘plough’ under their alliance with the ruling party, but it has also announced an additional 147 candidates.
