Mahi B to contest with boat symbol

A letter signed by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been sent to the concerned returning officer regarding the final nomination

Bikalpa Dhara Joint Secretary General Mahi B Chowdhury will contest with the boat symbol in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader handed over the finalized nomination papers of three Jukta Front candidates to contest with the boat symbol to Bikalpa Dhara Secretary General, Major (retd) Mannan on Friday.

Mannan told Bangla Tribune: "We have received three nominations from Awami League for the upcoming general polls. I am hopeful that we will get some more seats.”

A letter signed by Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been sent to the concerned returning officer regarding the final nomination of three Jukta Front candidates who will contest with the boat symbol.

The letter said Mahi B Chowdhury has been nominated for Munshiganj 1 constituency and  will contest with the boat symbol, under clause 16 (2) and 16 (3) of the Representation of the People’s Order (RPO) 1972.

The letter requested that all necessary steps be taken by the concerned returning officer for the allocation of the boat symbol to Mahi B Chowdhury in Munshiganj 1 constituency for the upcoming general election.

According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the last date for nomination paper submission was on November 28. The last date for nomination selection was on December 2. Withdrawal of nomination submission is scheduled to be on December 9.

On November 12, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced a fresh schedule for the parliamentary election.

The commission said the polls will now be held on December 30 instead of December 23.
