AL starts selling nomination papers for 11th general elections

The 11th general election will be held across Bangladesh on December 23

Ruling party Awami League has started selling nomination papers for the upcoming 11th general elections.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader inaugurated nomination form sales at party President Sheikh Hasina’s political office, in Dhanmondi, around 10:01am on Friday. 

He bought the Gopalganj 3 form for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

This year, Awami League has increased the price of nomination papers from Tk25,000 to Tk30,000.

When is the election?

The 11th general election will be held across Bangladesh on December 23.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the date while addressing the nation from the Election Commission, office in Dhaka’s Agargaon, on Thursday evening.

As per the timetable announced by the CEC, candidates must file their nomination papers, either online or manually, from Friday (today) to November 19. 

The returning officers will then scrutinize the nomination papers on November 22, with November 29 set as the final date for withdrawals.
