General Secretary Obaidul Quader also said those who were with Awami League in difficult times would also be nominated
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said contenders with public acceptance only would be nominated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the upcoming national polls in Comilla.
He made the statement at a public rally, which was part of election campaign, in Eliotganj Rabi High School field in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla on Saturday.
The Awami League General Secretary said: "Those who were with Awami League in difficult times would also be nominated but not those who caused misdeeds and extorted money in the name of Awami League."
Obaidul Quader, addressing BNP, said: "BNP as a political party has become isolated from people, which was why it would be difficult for them to launch a movement.
"Every time reporters ask them, they seem to delay their movement until after Eid. They have not embarked on a movement even for 10 minutes in the last decade. What movement are they going to launch in one month!"
The minister also said Awami League has been infiltrated by a number of opportunists. They do not have the party's best interests at their hearts. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has a well thought-out plan for nomination of candidates in the upcoming 11th general polls.
The public rally was presided over by Comilla North District Awami League President Abdul Awal Sarkar, where the special guest was Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, and Comilla North District General Secretary Jahangir Alam Sarkar, among many others.
