The Election Commission will start investigating allegations of irregularities at suspended polling centres in the recently held Barisal city polls from Saturday.
During the city polls on July 30, the commission had to suspended the results of 15 polling centres and postpone voting in another due to allegations of irregularities.
A four-member team, led by EC Joint Secretary Khandokar Mizanur Rahman, will conduct the investigation till Tuesday next week.
The other three members are Md Farhad Hussain, deputy secretary (current responsibility) of the Election Commission Secretariat, Shaid Abdus Salam, deputy director (training) of the Election Training Institute, and Md Shah Alam, senior assistant secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat.
“The team will take the testimonies of the presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers concerned,” probe team member Farhad Hussain said.
“Testimonies from the executive magistrate, In-charge of police’s mobile team, members of the law enforcement agencies, and EC observers will be taken as well.”
The 15 suspended polling centres: Barisal Public School and College, Faria Community Center, Govt Mohila College, Barisal City College, Adarsha Govt Primary School, Shahid Abdur Rob Serniabad Textile Engineering College-1, Shahid Abdur Rob Serniabad Textile Engineering College-2, Udoyon Primary School, Sabera Khaton Girls High School, RM Sagardi Govt Primary School, Shahid A.Rob Serniabad Govt High School, Rupatoli Jagua High School, Rupatoli Jagua Degree College and adjacent Rupatoli Govt Primary School, Sakhina Khatun Govt Primary School and North building of A Owahed Girls High School, Naygoan High School and adjacent Indrokathi Govt Primary School.
