The BNP candidate said police and Awami League activists are obstructing his supporters from casting their votes
Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, the BNP-backed mayoral candidate for Barisal City Corporation polls, has alleged that 50 agents of his party have been kicked out of different polling centres since voting began.
He raised the allegation after casting his vote at Sayeda Mazedunnessa Secondary School, around 8:30am, on Monday.
Sarwar said some youths wearing boat symbol badges, rushed to the place, while he was casting his vote, and complained that he was stuffing ballots.
They broke down the main collapsible gate and forcefully tried to enter the polling centre.
Failing to enter the centre, the youths attempted to disperse the queuing voters from the spot.
“Police and Awami League activists are obstructing my supporters from casting their votes,” the BNP mayoral candidate said.
